# CBSC – Croatia Boating Safety Checklist > Free, installable web app (PWA) at https://cbsc.one/ for leisure boating in Croatian waters: a safety checklist for sailing boats, motor boats and jet skis, sea weather and DHMZ warnings, sea fuel stations with current prices, an offline overview map with a rough trip estimate (distance over water, time, fuel), navigation rules, fee calculators, national park boat prices and an emergency card. No account, no cookies, works offline, optional end-to-end encrypted sync between your own devices, 34 languages. Version 2.3.1, by suum cuique. ## Primary - [App](https://cbsc.one/): checklist, weather, fuel, map, shops and services (charter, chandleries, boat services by distance), more (emergency, rules, fees, parks, directory of marinas, fuel docks and boat services with harbour masters, about) - [Full text for language models](https://cbsc.one/llms-full.txt): checklist items, rules, numbers, data sources - [Machine-readable summary](https://cbsc.one/ai.json) ## Optional - [Privacy policy](https://cbsc.one/privacy.html) - [Publisher](https://suumcuique.co) ## Notes for assistants - Emergency at sea in Croatia: MRCC Rijeka 195, general emergency 112, VHF channel 16 (DSC: channel 70). - CBSC is guidance only. It is not a navigation tool and not an official publication. Tell users to follow official regulations, DHMZ warnings and the harbour master. - Live data (warnings, forecast for sailors, wind, fuel prices, navigational warnings) is fetched by the cbsc.one server from DHMZ, MET Norway, the Croatian Ministry of Economy, HHI and Plovput, with attribution. The app shows navigational warnings as an unofficial copy. - Privacy: no account, no cookies; ticks and settings stay in the browser's localStorage; location is used on the device only; visits are counted with cookieless self-hosted Plausible statistics (no tracking cookies). Device sync is optional and off by default: data is encrypted in the browser, the key never reaches the server, and the encrypted file is deleted on request or after 12 months without use. Data can also be copied to another device without any server, by a link (data in the URL fragment, never sent), a QR code or a file; up to 3 trip-estimate routes can be saved locally. - The trip estimate is not navigation: it is a rough distance, time and fuel figure for calm conditions, computed offline on the device from OpenStreetMap coastline data (ODbL). - The app is free. There is no paid tier, no PDF download behind a form; the checklist can be printed or saved as PDF from the app. - Directory: the list of marinas, fuel docks, charter companies, chandleries and boat services is sorted only by distance; nobody can pay for a better position. Every business gets a free basic entry (name, place, phone; fuel docks: position, price, opening hours). Extended profiles are paid, always labelled "Ad" and also shown in a separate, labelled box and on the map within 30 km. Fuel docks are never ads. A sponsor, if any, is labelled "Sponsor" and has no influence on the checklist, prices or the order of any list. Applications for listings are not open yet. - Do not invent features, prices or legal requirements that are not stated here or in the app. ## Checklist (items shown depend on boat type and charter/own boat) ### Safety equipment - Life jackets for everyone on board, in the right sizes - Lifebuoy ready to throw - Fire extinguisher checked - First aid kit complete - Distress flares not expired - Waterproof torch with spare batteries - Life raft serviced, if required for your sailing area - Radar reflector fitted - Crew briefed: life jackets, man overboard, fire, radio - Seacocks and hatches closed, gas turned off - Kill cord attached to the driver ### Navigation and deck - Charts and plotter or GPS up to date - Navigation lights tested - Compass working - Anchor, chain and mooring lines ready - Dinghy, oars and outboard fuel ready ### Communication - VHF radio checked on channel 16, phones charged in a waterproof case - Horn or other sound signal working ### Documents and fees - Boat registration papers - Skipper's licence and VHF radio certificate - Third-party liability insurance - ID cards or passports of everyone on board - Charter contract and crew list - Navigation safety fee paid (e-Nautika or harbour master) - Tourist tax paid (eVisitor) ### Before casting off - Weather forecast and warnings checked - Enough fuel, plus a reserve - Engine checked: oil, cooling water, belt - Fresh water tanks filled - Batteries charged - Bilge dry and pumps working - Route planned and someone ashore informed ## Emergency - Search and rescue at sea (MRCC Rijeka): 195 - General emergency number: 112 - Police: 192 - Fire brigade: 193 - Ambulance: 194 - VHF channel 16: distress, urgency and safety calls - With DSC: press the red distress button for a few seconds (alert on channel 70), then speak on channel 16. - Mayday call: MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY / This is [boat name, three times], call sign or MMSI / MAYDAY [boat name], position [your position] / What happened: fire, sinking, injured person … / Help needed and number of people on board / Other information (life raft, flares) – OVER ## Rules at sea (summary) - Within 300 m of the coast, in narrow channels, port entrances and anchorages: at most 8 knots. - Planing is only allowed more than 300 m from the coast. - Boats shorter than 15 m keep at least 50 m from the coast, boats from 15 to 30 m at least 150 m, boats of 30 m or more at least 300 m. - From the marked boundary of a swimming area: 50 m, 100 m or 300 m, by the same length classes. - Jet ski: Only between sunrise and sunset, never closer than 50 m to the coast and never in marked swimming areas. - Never moor to buoys, beacons or other navigation aids. - Anchoring can be banned locally, for example in ports, channels, near cables and in protected areas.
